Custom Labeling & Printing

Disk-O-Tape offers many custom labeling and printing options for CD and DVD discs, and 3.5" diskettes. Our advanced printing processes include: color digital printing, one color thermal printing, full color Everest printing, and silk screen and offset printing. Whether your design incorporates sophisticated graphics or is only text, our talented graphics department will make sure your label looks great and meets your specifications.

1. CD-R/DVD-R Labeling and Printing Options (For CD-R/DVD-R Duplication Projects):
We offer printing of labels which adhere to the top surface of the CD-R or DVD-R discs.  In addition, we offer direct printing on the top surface of both CD-R and DVD-R media. Both approaches allow for precise, high quality, color and black and white output. Further details are described below:

A. Color Digital Label Printing - Color digital label printing provides exceptionally high quality output and fast production speeds at a low cost (typically $ .50/label at a quantity of 100 or more labels (a setup fee may also apply)). Color digital printing supports complex graphics and its technology lends itself to any size job. This is a suitable option for rush jobs and other jobs requiring quick turns. (Many jobs involving color digital labels can be completed within 24 hours.)

B. Black & White Laser Label Printing - Black and white laser labels are very cost effective. This option can be used for high quality text and/or graphics. It offers quick print times and consistent quality which make it a great choice when color is not required. (Many jobs involving black and white laser labels can be completed within 24 hours.)

C. Thermal Printing Directly on the Disc Top Surface - Thermal printing features black, blue, or red print on silver or white top surface CD-R and DVD-R discs (our standard is black print on a silver top surface for CD-R and black print on a white top surface for DVD-R). Thermal printing offers a very professional look when full color printing is not required. It is an excellent selection for printing text and simple graphics (vector graphics yield the best results with thermal printing). Thermal printing is typically used for jobs of under 1,000 discs and offers: low setup fees, versatile print options, rapid output, and is a cost effective alternative to silk screen printing. (Many jobs involving thermal printing can be completed within 24 hours.)

D.  Full Color Everest Printing Directly on the Disc Top Surface -  Everest printing features exceptional full color disc and hub printing on CD-R and DVD-R media at 160 LPI (far superior resolution to silk screen printing).  Everest printing is ideal for complex graphics including photo type images.   Everest printing is typically used for jobs of under 1,000 discs and offers: low setup fees, versatile color print options and rapid output. (Many jobs involving Everest printing can be completed within 24 to 48 hours.)

E. Silk Screen and Offset Printing Directly on the Disc Top Surface - Silk screen and offset printing are available in one to five colors (including 4 color process). They produce a CD-R or DVD-R disc with an extremely professional look. Silk screen and offset printing are typically used for jobs of 100 pieces or more and involve slightly longer productions times. (Many jobs involving silk screen or offset printing can be completed within 5 business days). For more information on silk screen and offset printing click on the "Silk Screen Printing" button at the top.

2. CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Printing Options (For CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Replication Projects):
CD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs are decorated using the silk screen printing process. You may choose from one to five colors (including four color process). Silk screen printing utilizes highly sophisticated equipment and is designed for on time production. CD-ROM and DVD-ROM projects typically involve 1,000 to 20,000 discs. (Replication jobs are normally completed within 4 - 9 business days.)

3. Diskette Labeling Options (For Diskette Duplication Projects):
Both face labels and fold-over labels are available for 3.5" diskettes. Our 3.5" adhesive diskette labels have a matte finish and offer high resolution and excellent image quality. Diskette labels can be produced using color digital printing, black thermal printing, and black & white laser printing. Black thermal printing is the most economical option and is usually used for projects of 200 diskettes or more. (Many diskette duplication projects can be completed within 24 hours.)
